Palestinian-American Teenager Liberated After Nine-Month Period in Israel's Imprisonment

An Palestinian-American teenager after completing a nine-month period in Israel's custody without being charged gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old at the time of his arrest this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities said it welcomed the news of Mohammed's release.

Currently aged sixteen, was taken to hospital right after being freed, family members reported.

According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle expressed the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, our priority is ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and inhumane conditions over several months."

US officials stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

{"American leadership considers paramount to the protection and welfare of US citizens"," it added.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and the White House, demanding more be done to release him.

The father, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop from Florida, had earlier stated his son only confessed to throwing stones because the soldiers beat him.

The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son since the arrest, learning information solely what had happened to him via legal paperwork.

He stayed absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

The facility also contains adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities including killings.

There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, per correctional service statistics.

Numerous remain uncharged and human rights groups, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting demanding accountability for their family member their cousin Sayfollah.
