Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health comes as the boxing community had expressed its support for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
