Pattern of Incidents
Since the beginning of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a number of Russian military officials have been subjected to assaults within Moscow.
This new event echoes other notable incidents, for instance:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov died in late 2024 when a explosive hidden on a scooter was detonated remotely.
While a Ukrainian source previously attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such assertions are never formally acknowledged as a matter of official stance.
Hostilities has been marked by covert operations moving into the heart of the Russian capital.
The examination into General Sarvarov's death continues to be active.
